Wall Air Conditioners

Wall air conditioners are basically the same as a window air conditioning unit except that it is through the wall an not through a window. They create the same effect and require the same type of considerations that a window unit would require. However, there are also some considerations that these types of units will also need.

These are wall based units, therefore, one would be required to either create a hole in their preexisting wall, or to install one during the building phase. The former can be rather difficult and require extra construction in order to install. One would first be required to create the hole in the wall. If this is a brick style building, then there is a bit of extra work involved. Bricks will need to be both removed and replaced during the process. The weight of the overall unit will need to be dealt with also. This will require the unit to be mounted and held by an interior wall.

However, if, during the building phase, a wall unit was constructed into the building, then there may be a basic frame that holds the unit also. If this is the case, then it will be quite easy to remove and replace an air conditioning unit. It would be a matter of removing a few screws, taking the old unit out, placing a new unit in, and replacing the screws. One may be required to seal any air leaks around the perimeter. However, this is easily solved with a tube of clear silicon sealant.

Are they better that a window based air conditioning unit? This is probably a matter of personal opinion and should be treated as such. Some folks simply do not like the fact that a window unit blocks out the window and the light that the window provides, therefore, a wall unit would probably be a wise choice for those types of people. Although, the prospect of the wall construction can be a deterrent.

As with all air conditioning units, one must consider how large the area is that one would like to cool and choose a unit that would correspond to that. Another aspect is that of energy star compliance. This will give an indication of the potential savings one can expect when it comes to utility bills. Also, there is the noise factor that will also need to be considered too. Some of these fans can be quite loud and will become a bit of an annoyance to some.

So, when considering wall air conditioners, consider all the aspects that this type or style of unit will require. With these wall based units, there are especially some concerns that one certainly needs to consider.
